Welcome to the Engage Your Destiny blog where we dive into the topics that matter most to our faith and future. As our title suggests today we’re exploring a critical and timely question: Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) eroding your faith?
I’m Ben Peterson, the founder and CEO of Engage Your Destiny. Our mission is to fulfill the great commission within the military and we are witnessing an unprecedented move of God across military bases. Currently Engage Your Destiny is active on nine bases leading ministry and hosting Bible studies. With potential expansions on the horizon it’s an exciting time for our mission.
Our military, like many sectors, is increasingly integrating artificial intelligence into daily operations. From planning strategic attacks to autonomous drones AI represents a monumental shift in technology. This raises a profound question for us as believers: In a world dominated by technology, particularly AI, how do we maintain our faith?
Let’s reflect on faith through the lens of a daunting exercise from Navy SEAL training. Trainees navigate underwater for hours with minimal visibility relying solely on their compasses trusting in what they cannot see. This powerful metaphor reminds us of our own faith journey where we are called to believe in the unseen.
Just like the compass guides the SEALs the word of God is our true north. We hold in our hands the Holy Bible, 99% of which remains as accurate today as when it was written, our everlasting guide in the darkness.
Unlike AI humans possess self-awareness and the ability to reflect deeply on our thoughts and existence. This self-reflection sets us apart, grounding us in a faith that AI cannot replicate. AI functions on algorithms created by humans lacking the capacity for authentic thought and emotion.
As we enter an era marked by unprecedented technological advancements we must be vigilant. AI offers answers at our fingertips tempting us to forego the search for deeper soul-fulfilling truths found in faith. While AI is a remarkable tool, reliance on it for questions that touch our spiritual core can be misleading and leave us feeling empty.
Let’s draw inspiration from Jesus’ journey to the cross. Even in his humanity Jesus demonstrated ultimate faith by trusting in God’s plan though the path ahead was obscure and full of suffering. It was this profound faith that led to the greatest victory in history – the redemption of humanity.
I can relate this to my own story. Returning from Iraq after witnessing unspeakable hardships and having lost seven team members I faced personal darkness. It was faith and the guidance of a mentor that steered me away from despair allowing me to impact countless lives through my ministry today.
